What size belt should I order?
What is the difference between a 1/4" and 3/16" thick belt?
The main difference is the thickness and stiffness of the leather. Bullhide (1/4") Max Thickness is 14+ ounce leather. It has stiffer qualities and is a great casual, work, or gun belt. Bullhide (3/16") leather is 10-12 ounce leather and is more of a casual or dress thickness belt. We do offer a few 1/8" thick belts which is similar to the thickness a store sells. Normally the thicker the belt the more durable the leather.
If you want a heavy duty thicker belt you would go with the 1/4" thick but if not go with the 3/16" thick. Please note that thickness of leather is approximate since these are natural hides and can vary slightly from hide to hide.
Can I return an older belt to be resized?
To keep up with demand and turnaround times we just make new belts and do not make alterations of old belts or belts that are not ours. Some customers who lose weight take their belts to a local shoe repair or leather shop and they can cut off the buckle end and resize the belt smaller from the buckle by four or more inches. If the belt has stitching it is harder to resize. Its just too risky to resize an old belt for us and normally with the labor and shipping costs is more cost effective to just order a new belt instead.
Some styles of belts like the ranger, steel core, and money belts can not be resized.

Do you have a catalog?
We do not offer printed catalogs. All of our products are listed on BullhideBelts.com. Most companies have gone away from catalogs these days due to the huge costs of printing and shipping.
Can you engrave a name into the belt or wallet?
We do not offer custom engraving or names so the item can be returned for possible sizing issues. You may be able to get a local leather shop or shoe shop to engrave our items for you but this could void the warranty and return policy. Please try on all items for size before altering the item.
Can you custom make my belt or wallet?
We only offer the items listed on our website and do not custom make items or do prototype work. There are huge costs involved in creating new designs and getting molds and dies made (normally $3000-5000 to create a new product). If you have this kind of budget please email us the details.
We offer many styles of belts and wallets on our site so we may have something similar to yours.
Can I use my own buckle?
Yes. Please visit our HOW TO VIDEOS page on the bottom footer links for a video https://www.bullhidebelts.com/pages/how-to-videos on how to remove the buckle. Most of the belts are made with Chicago screws so you can change out the buckle and use your own. We also have a few belts that feature snaps. View details on the product page to see how the buckle is attached and if the buckle is removable. You would take our buckle off and put yours on when you receive the belt. We are unable to have buckles mailed to us. Please note that your buckle may require a certain style or thickness of a belt. We are unable to guarantee our belt will fit your buckle since we make the belt for our hardware. Please contact us if you need further help.
Do you offer odd size belts?
We do not offer odd size belts. Most of our belts are available in even sizes from 32 to 54 inches. Larger sizes of 56" to 60" are available in the "large size belts" category. If you have a current Bullhide Belt that is an odd size, please note that we changed our belt sizing in 2016. Please measure your belt as detailed on our website to calculate the new size needed.
Can you add more holes then what is listed online?
The hole options are listed for each product in the description. We stock the belts and pull and ship by SKU number so we do not accidentally mail the wrong item to customers. We are unable to alter the holes in the belt and they ship as detailed online. We do offer holes with more holes so just sort by the number of holes needed on the menu. Amazon also sells a $15 leather hole punch if you need to add holes towards the buckle end in the future.
Can I purchase replacement screws and hardware?

Chicago screws can occasionally loosen due to the vibrations from wearing the belt, despite our efforts to secure them tightly. While it's rare, we advise checking them periodically as stated in our shipping confirmation email. Alternatively, some customers opt to glue the screws for a permanent fix, although we do not do this ourselves because many prefer to change out buckles.
What widths do your belts come in?
We offer many widths from 1" (tiny petite), 1.25" (standard for dress), 1.50" (standard for jeans), and oversized 1.75" (wide work/gun belt). Please make sure you have a two inch pant loop in order to fit a 1.75" wide belt. We do not make 2" wide belts, those are cop gun rig style belts to go over pant loops and just don't sell well at all for us. Under the belts menu you can sort by width if you would like.
Please measure a current belt you have to see what width it is. You can also make a template out of cardboard to give you a visual of what the width will look like in your pant loops. You can also double up the cardboard to the advertised thickness if you would like to make sure it will fit your loops.
Do you offer reversible belts?
NO. Run away from reversible belts as fast as you can. We tested over 40 reversible belt buckles and they all break in a short amount of time at the swivel pin. It's best to just order two colored belts and switch off as needed. Our USA made belts can last decades or a lifetime if taken care of.
Do you offer ratchet style belts?
No. Run away from ratchet belts as fast as you can. Typically they will last 6-12 months but the plastic teeth of those break off then its unusable. We are only interested in producing products that will last the test of time.
Will magnetics in your money clips and cell holsters hurt my cards/phone?
No. This is a myth proven by that Myth Busters TV show. It would take a huge magnet like they use to lift cars to erase the data on your credit card strip. Something with a powered magnet. Our magnets are strong but not damaging strong.
How do I unscrew the belt screws to change out the buckle?
We use a tool to torque down the screws on the belt so they do not work loose and fall off with the vibrations of wearing the belt. Normally you can just use a flat head screwdriver (or star bit is best) to unscrew the screws and change out the buckle. If that doesn't work, wrap a piece of sticky tape around your finger (sticky out) to hold the smooth side of the screw. Are your belts full grain leather?
Yes we use vegetable tanned, full grain leather. Unlike our competitors, we also only use the best parts of the hide! This makes the best and most durable belt even though our yield is less then using the entire hide like they do. Thats the Bullhide Belts difference.

How far apart are the holes on the belts?
When you click the image of the belt you want, the belt details are listed on the product page in the descriptions bullet points. The number of holes and spacing will be listed there. Most belts will have 5 holes 1" spaced but we do offer some belts with 7 or 9 holes at 3/4" spacing such as our Eastwood thick work/gun belts. Under the BELTS menu you can sort by 7 or 9 holes if you are looking for more than just the standard 5. We stock the belts are shown and do not custom make them with more holes then listed.
Will the belt fit through my belt loops?
Typically all pants should fit up to a 1.50" wide belt. This is a standard width for a jean belt and our best selling width. Some dress may require a 1.25" width instead. Most customer who are wearing dress pants for formal use or church order the 1.25" width.
We also sell oversized 1.75" work/gun belts as well but those require a two inch pant loop to fit. The best thing to do is measure your current belt for reference. You can also cut a piece of cardboard to the width and use that as a temple in your loops to see if it fits. Double up the cardboard so its the advertised thickness of the belt you are ordering.
How are Bullhide Belts different from a department store belt?
WAY DIFFERENT! Stores reach out to us all the time so we know what they are buying. Typically a store has such high overhead they need to purchase $2-6 belts from overseas companies and sell them for $40-60. What you are buying is a few dollar bonded leather belt with a 10 cent buckle that will fall apart. For example you can purchase a solid leather sofa for $3000 or you can purchase a BONDED leather sofa for $700. The bonded leather is glued together fibers and peel away in time. It won't be long before that is at the curb heading to the landfill.
We use real full grain vegetable tanned leather. All of our belts and wallets are build by hand and made to last for decades or a lifetime. You truly get what you pay for.
What belts do I order for gun holster carry?
A gun belt should be a thick and stiff leather belt to carry the weight of a gun without stretching or sagging. When you carry, the belt needs to support that weight so its effortless to carry. Under the BELTS menu click the GUN (thick and stiff) page. Those are all thick gun belts. We also offer gun belts with steel core reinforment under that sames BELTS menu if you carry a lot of weight.

Are Bullhide Belts vegetable tanned?
Yes we use full grain vegetable tanned leather to make our products. Vegetable tanning uses no harsh chemicals.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. We also accept payment by PayPal or Apple Pay. If you decide to use either of these two methods, you’ll be taken to either the PayPal or Apple Pay website, where you’ll be prompted to log in and process your payment. You’ll then be directed back to our merchant website once your transaction is complete.
Where is my refund?
We aim to process refunds within three days of an item being returned to us. Please note, however, that your bank may take several days to process the payment back into your account. With that said, please allow up to ten working days after posting the item back to us before getting in touch about your refund. We’ll contact you by email to let you know when your refund has been processed. Email us for further help.
Do you accept checks or money orders?
If you do not have a credit card, you can get a pre-paid credit card at most drug stores and at Wal-Mart. In order for us to keep up with demand and our fast turnaround times, we are unable to process and keep track of mail payments. We accept all major credit cards as well as PayPal and Apple Pay.
When will my credit card be charged?
Credit cards are charged the moment you place your order. This allows us to verify funds are available before we can start production of your item(s). Please note that we do not store credit card information for your security.
Do you offer discounts or promotions?
From time to time we will run a sale on a specific belt but we normally do not have a mass percentage off sale since we do not have a large margin on our items. We do have a special offers page that we list sale items on. Fill out the newsletter signup form at the bottom of our site to be alerted of sales and new products.
How do I apply a gift card code?
If you have a valid gift card code, you can enter the code during checkout on the page you enter your shipping address. Do not click the PayPal Express or Applepay icons on the shopping cart because they will skip over this page. Once you enter your long code, press apply to take the discount off. Gift cards can not be used after an order has been placed so please contact us if you need help.
Do you offer military discounts?
Thank you for your service and showing interest in our USA made products. Periodically, we feature sales on selected items from our main menu's SPECIALS page. We typically choose popular belts and offer them at discounted prices by producing them in larger batches, which helps us keep costs down. We rarely use coupon codes and have maintained stable pricing for quite some time. However, it's worth noting that due to increases in costs from tanneries (over 30%) and hardware suppliers (up 50% since 2022), we may need to adjust prices in the future. Where is my order confirmation?
This is automatically sent to your email address when you place an order. If you haven’t received your order confirmation within 24 hours, please email us just in case there’s a problem with your order. Please check your mailbox’s spam or junk folder before contacting in case the order confirmation has been diverted there.
How do I cancel my order?
There is only a short amount of time between when you place your order and when we start processing it. If you contact us straight away after ordering, via our contact page, we may be able to cancel your order before it’s processed. Any changes such as sizing simply email us or replied to your confirmation emial with the new size needed so we can change that right away.
Can I alter my order?
Please email us right away and we can normally change the address or belt size before shipping your order. We process orders quick so make sure you email us right after ordering with specific directions what to change. Use our contact page online or simply relied from your email confirmation.
When will my order arrive?
Orders that require shipping within the U.S. will be delivered within three to ten days, depending on your preferred shipping method. We typically ship in stock orders within 1 to 2 business days Monday through Friday. Custom made items such as designer belts and gun holsters will note the estimated time of production on the title of the item and description. Please get in touch if your order hasn’t been delivered according to the expected timescales, and we will check your order status. We are unable to guarantee a delivery date but please email us if you need an item by a certain date and we can tell you if its possible. We highly recommend upgrading to UPS or even faster service FedEx Express at checkout.
What countries do you ship to?
We ship within the USA only. If you are in Canada or another country, please go to our eBay store under username BULLHIDEBELTS (make sure thats the seller name). eBay has a international shipping process as we would ship to them in the USA and they reship to you normally for a small fee.
How much is shipping?
Shipping costs depend on the item you’ve ordered and weight. Please add your items to your shopping cart and you can do a shipping estimate on there. We offer a few shipping carriers to choose from.
Can I track my order?
Yes. We’ll provide updates at every stage of your order, from the moment you place it, through to despatch and delivery. In your delivery confirmation emails, you’ll receive a tracking reference which you can use to check the progress of your order online. Please check your inbox and SPAM for these emails.
Can you overnight a package?
Sorry we are unable to overnight packages. We do offer FedEx Express shipping during checkout which is a 2 business day transit once shipped. Normally with this service you receive your package quickly in 3-4 days if in stock. Email us when you would need the package by to ensure this is possible BEFORE ordering.
Where are your products made and shipped from?
Our products are made by us in the USA. We have leather shops in Indiana and Ohio. These are production facilities and are not open to the public. We do not have a retail walk in store.
Can I order by phone?
Yes please visit our contact page and fill out the form with all your information and phone number. In the message section just say please call me I would like to order by phone. Same goes if you have questions you would like to ask by phone but normally emails get a quicker response.
We don't have a call center, most of our crew is making and shipping products but we will call you back as quick as possible once we receive your email. We stopped putting our phone number on the site due to too many telemarketers.

Can I return or exchange an item?
You can absolutely return your item to us, within 30 days after receiving it, as long as it’s undamaged, unused and contained in its original packaging with all tags and labels attached. We also offer sizing exchanges. Simply use the paper return form inside the package to setup a sizing exchange or a refund. Directions are on the form. If you’re unsure about the new size you need, we recommend emailing us for help as we only offer a one time return for free. See our return policy at the bottom footer links for more information.
How do I return an item?
There is a paper return form inside every package. You would fill out this form with your information and order number. Include the current and new size needed for the item OR check the refund box instead if you are just returning for a refund less the shipping. Please contact our customer service team via our contact page if you need further help.
Providing the return is within the 30-day return period and meets our return criteria, we will issue you the new size or refund as requested on the return form you filled out. You will need to arrange and pay for suitable packaging/shipping when returning an item.
What do I do if I lose my return form?
Please email us through our contact form to request a new return form PDF. Simply print it off and follow the directions on the form to return. If you do not have a printer, write all the required information on a piece of paper clearly.
My order has arrived but it’s not as I expected. What can I do?
In the rare event that your order arrives damaged or faulty, please take photos of the product in question and email our customer service team via sales@bullhidebelts.com with the details. We’ll respond within 48 hours. If you just don’t like the product for any reason, we’ll gladly accept it back as a return, providing it’s in “as new” condition, in its original packaging with all labels attached. In this case just fill out the return form inside the package and check the refund box. Directions are on the form.
